Jack won’t lift

We have a 2015 Jayco trailer that we purchased last year and when getting it ready for this years travels the electric jack will lower but won’t lift. Likely culprits are switch, motor or possibly a bad ground but I was hoping someone might have been through this already and can point me in the right direction. Appreciate any input! Thanks!

First, make sure your battery is fully charged, the ground connection should be the mounting bolts to the tongue. If both of those are good, it may be the switch, pop it out, unplug it and check the continuity of the up and down functions with an ohm meter. Possible, but if it sounds normal lowering, the motor is probably OK. Probably.

Does it make any sound at all when you try to lift?

Quickest fix is to loosen one or more of the bolts that hold it down, sand off any rust or corrosion on the metal of the trailer and the post and tighten it back down. Probably a very poor ground if it moves but will not lift.

Could also be in switch as above but post to frame ground is my #1 culprit. I added a post direct to battery connection on mine because of this problem.

No, no sound at all when pressing the switch to lift. Motor sounds normal when lowering.

You can also try to swap the up/down wires on the switch. If it changes to only lifting, you know the switch is bad if cleaning the contacts doesn't help.

If you're leaning towards a bad switch, call the manufacturer, and see if a replacement switch is available, and for how much,
