Jayco Class C Sofa

I have a 2016 Redhawk with a sofa that converts to a bed (we've never used it as a bed). The fake vinyl on the sofa has cracked all across the front and opened up to show the cloth underneath in a couple of places. I tried to get a person to repair/cover it, but after I sent them a picture they wouldn't answer their phone. I then bought a repair kit, but all that did was dye it. The cracks still show.

Anyone else have this happen? And what did you do to correct it? I think that throwing away the sofa and getting a couple of recliners would be nice, but I'm satisfied with the couch - if it looked decent! But we do live in a throw away society.

Any suggestions?
Thanks, Al

This was an industry wide problem with the crap defective vinyl that was used at the time. The peeling will continue until there is nothing left but the under material. There are other threads that cover this, you can search for them.

I bought cheap couch and seat covers just to cover up the unsightly mess.

I replaced mine with cloth covered dual recliners. Not only are they way more comfortable, but they look a lot better as well. ~CA

dxrobertson: Thanks for the reply. I did search for past comments. I searched for "sofa"
and "vinyl", but got no hits.
If this was so widely known Jayco should have been willing to fix the problem.

Yeah - the fake pleather in our 2016 is a disaster too. That horrible jackknife abomination was replaced by two RecPro recliners last year. My wife has recovered some of the dinette cushions.

But we still have lots of flaking pleather problems.

Pleather? Crapleather

I also bought covers for the dinette. But the sofa is bolted to the frame. I guess the only solution is to replace it.

I replaced mine after one year. The cheap material started peeling on corners the first month in rig. No regrets. I went with Rec Pro powered recliners. Safe travels

Enjoy the journey

I ended up replacing the entire dinette (except for the table) with more comfortable dinette chairs, replaced the sofa, replaced the driver and passenger chairs. The only place left with the Pleather is the vertical wall behind the cockpit (I forget what they call that wall). One reason I keep my older unit is that I have spent 10+ years getting everything like it should have been all along and of course with other upgrades as well. ~CA
