Kitchen Faucet Repar

I have a 2007 Jayflight 27bh. I have a drip coming from the kitchen faucet. Only the hot side is dripping. In order to stop the drip you really have to crank down hard on the handle. The stem and bonnet needs to be replaced. No big deal, it is an easy repair. Or so I thought.

I took out the old stem and bonnet to see if I could find a replacement. I spent about an hour or 2 searching the internet to try and find out who the manufacturer of the faucet is. The best I could come up with it Phoenix. The faucet looked similar and the picture of the stem and bonnet was close to what I had. You can never truely tell based on pictures because stock photos are used so many times. I checked the manuals in the rv to confirm what I had found. I have an owners manual for Phoenix faucets and the part number listed for the kitchen faucet was the one I was looking at. I felt pretty good that I had found the right replacement part. I order the parts, they arrive but they do not fit.

I call Phoenix and they tell me that they do not manufacture the Jayco kitchen faucets, only the bath faucets. They tell me they think the kitchen faucet was manufactured by a company called Cast. I now call Jayco to see what they say. They tell me the kitchen faucet is manufactured by Dehco and give me their phone number and the part number for the faucet. OK, great customer service, or so I think. I call Dehco and they subsequently tell me that they are not a manufacturer. They are only a wholesale distributor and that the part number Jayco gave me does not exist. I say Thank You and call Jayco again. They tell me they have no other info for the faucet. Great! No one knows what this faucet is nor do they know who made it.

I do a bit more searching and come up with a company called Empire Brass. The faucets in their catalog are an exact match except for the handles, a slight difference. My faucet is made from brass with a plastic cover, the new ones are made from all plastic. So I call Empire Brass to confirm this is their faucet and to try to also confirm the new stem and bonnet will fit my faucet. They take my name and number and will call me back they say. Good thing I was not holding my breath. I would not be here typing if I was.

So, in the end, is there anyone out there can can confirm my faucet is manufactured by Empire Brass? I would rather not spend another 20 bucks for parts that do not fit. I would rather not change the faucet as it is a quality brass unit.

why not just replace the rubber "seal" on the bottom of the tap? Mine were a common stock item at my local hardware.

I wound up buying standard washers from Home depot. They were just flat washers, they did not have the profile of the originals. I gave it a shot and after I installed them I took them back out and found the new flat washers now molded to the profile of the old ones. No more drip.

Personally, I would not waste another minute of my time. Get a nice faucet set and get rid of that piece of junk. Easy swap and most have lifetime parts warranty.

Try and collect on that warranty.. I had a very nice expensive tap in my stick and brick bathroom the finish corroded and I called on warranty.. they sent me a real cheap replacement saying ohh we dont make those anymore.. a $200.00 tap got replaced with a $29.00 tap.. grrr

If I were to experience the same problem I would just go and buy a new one, this is one of the reasons why I carefully choose the brand of faucet to use.

peerless is supposed to be a quality brand..

Don't know about the body but I have received many valves for them. They are available even thought the body may not be still made. Never had a problem.
