Lippert Never Fail bushings...I don't think so!

Two years ago I "invested" in Lippert Never Fail Tandem Suspension Hardware kit for about $75. Today, (after about 12000 miles) I have 4 shackles that have elongated and a couple bushings that have failed (see pic). When i emailed Lippert about this I got questions back like, "were the bolts tightened to 40 ft lbs?" And, "how many failed". I could see where that was going and there was no way I was putting replacement Lippert bushings and shackles back on.
So, I finally did what I should have done originally. I installed the MORryde Heavy Duty Shackle Kit for about $87 (see pic). It's a wet bolt system with bronze bushings and shackles that are easily twice the thickness of the Lippert shackles.
I can't seem to find a pic of the bad shackle but when i do, ill post that too.

Glad you didn’t discover that on the roadside. 12k isn’t much. I was wondering how durable those bushings would be and I guess you’ve answered that question for us.

I did the Morryde wet bolts on my last camper. Looks like I will do the same with the 5th wheel. Thanks for the follow up!

Thanks for posting. I did the MORryde wet bolts / shackles along with the transverse bracing a while back. Never an issue. I just don’t like lippert and never have, even though I don’t have much choice on some components. I had thought about putting the LCI bushings and shackles on my 3 cargo and other misc trailers, but think after this finding I’ll pass. You did the experiment and now I won’t have to deal with the pissed offness finding something like that.

I see in your profile you have a 5th wheel, but it wasn't in your post or sig. It might be helpful to some to include that kind of info.

BTW, I bought my TT new with the Mor Ryde 3000. I did have the Never Fail bushings installed after the first year with the idea I'd never have to worry about my TT suspension. IFF (that's 'if and only if' shorthand ) I need to have any suspension work done, I'll report on what I find.

Made in the USA (or China) why do we accept that kind of manufacturing............I would not be proud of it. Better to say: if they want me produce that in-quality I would quit my job an rather go hungry.

I got my rig back today from the shop. They installed the never fail bushings.

All the plastic bushings were butchered up pretty badly and all the shackles were worn and elongated. The 2011 rig has been towed 32,791 miles.

Just to be clear, the bushings in your photo are the OEM bushings, and NOT the Never Fail bushings. Correct?

Correct. The ones I replaced them with are in the other picture. I bought a pack of 14 but there were only 8 oe plastic bushings on the CRE3000 mor ryde suspension. All the others were brass.
