Low profile A/C compressor thud?

I don’t know if I just never noticed, or if there’s a problem brewing. My front AC is a Mach low profile 15K. I usually run it in fan hi or low. When the compressor kicks on.....it’s kicks on. There is a noticeable thud. With my previous trailer I had a standard profile AC, and I’d have to really listen closely to see if the compressor had come on.

This one is doing it’s job, but I don’t recall the thud last summer. Is this due to the different configuration?

They use a 2 fan system and one kicks on with the compressor if it's the Mach 8. The fan that circulates the air is a separate squirrel cage blower. You may want to pull the shroud and check it since they did have some mounts come loose as well as fan blades that cracked.

I’ll have a look. So I’m understanding, one fan for moving air alone, and another paired with the compressor vs one fan for all.

If it's the MACH 8 low profile yes.

The AC seems to work fine and I got on the roof to give a closer listen. I guess the low profile units are just loud. When outside I can barely hear my normal ac run. But the low profile is kind of loud.

On a side note, I kept getting some humid air coming through it’s vents. I found the divider had moved. Taped it up and secured it better.

Were you able to fix the divider from the top. Mine is ducted so I can't look at it from the bottom.

My low profile is my front AC which is ducted but has the regular return which makes it easy to get at from inside.

Mine is the LR 100% ducted unit. I suspect I will have to remove the cover on the evap coil to clean the coils being very careful to prevent debris from dropping into the ductwork.

Same here. I like the ducted system, but maintenance is not easy with it.
