Main Burner Pressure Pilot

Looking for a replacement #28-A38-005, this part has been discontinued. I have a Jayco Jay 2019. Any advice about where to look for a replacement?

What is the appliance make and model? What exact part are you looking to replace?

I would contact Dometic directly.

I'm curious what's happening that you want to replace the gas valve? Is your water heater having an issue lighting, or staying lit.

Did your water over-heat and blow the ECO feature inside?

There's a good possibility this one is a replacement for yours, but I suggest contacting Robertshaw for confirmation first.

Thank you for the help! The problem is that when we light the pilot it lights well, but within in 45 seconds the whole thing bursts into flames about 12 inches high.

Oh, that's scary! Then the ECO (Emergency Cut Off) is obviously not the problem. That cuts gas off completely. I'm of the opinion that Robertshaw made the gas valve for Dometic and may be able to confirm which one of theirs will be a direct replacement, and where you can find a supplier in your area to get one. Good luck on your quest and let us know how it turns out.

Sounds more like the burner nozzle needs to be cleaned or replaced rather than the gas valve.

X2, spiders love propane. It is very common for them to build nests and egg sacks in the burner assembly. I have cleaned mine a few times due to bad flame.

Do not change the air/fuel mix. I recommend scribing it's location before making any adjustments so you know where it's home position is located.

I have used my air compressor to blow air through the mix tube and through the flame chamber to clear it out when I have had flame issues.

You won't believe this but E Bay. I was looking for a glass globe for my propane lantern that broke years ago and they had it. Seriously. Check out E Bay.

FWIW, I owned a residential HVAC business for over 30 years much of the time trouble shooting propane and natural gas problems. My RV experience is limited to working on our or friend's/family's RVs.

A gas valve is only a solenoid, maybe two. The pressure thru them is usually a 1"WC drop. There's no way they can increase the pressure. There may be some sort of blockage in the burner tube or in the heat exchanger of the water heater itself that is not allowing the free flow of exhaust gases. That's what I would start looking at anyways.
