Menards LP Gas

At our local Menard's, I went to have our 20lb grill tank filled and the one of the 30lb trailer tank topped off (half full). They have a new policy, to get a tank topped off, you now have to pay for a full tank, no matter how much gas the tank requires.

Try Tractor Supply if you have one near you. Pay by the pound there. Others may be the same way.

Flying J will fill it. I usually pay 12.99 at the propane place by the house for a 20 pound tank, I never go to any store for propane. Most stores don't fill them all the way up. The dealer by me even tests them for free when they are outdated

Tractor Supply stores around here don't have propane. ACE hardware does, but they are over way priced. Closest propane dealers are 30+ miles away, Flying-J/Pilot even further. Menards used to sell it by the pound/gallon.

Here's a Yellow Pages list of propane services in your area, with phone numbers. You might call some of them to find out if they do refills by the gallon. We have places here that do, and some don't.

Non of the Menards around me will top off a tank. They just do a 20# tank exchange. Their posted price is way more than going to the gas station and having them fill the tank.

I go to a "propane dealer". That's all they do. They deliver to homes with propane service, plus fill up campers and locals with barbecue grills.

They charge $0.50 a pound if not empty. $10 for a fillup. The new tanks may be called "20 pounders", but they actually only hold 18# because of safety concerns. So, 18# IS filled all the way up.
