mud daubers in refrigerator

Newbie in Ohio here with a 2016 JayFlight SLX 287 BHSW and while cleaning the exterior refrigerator hatch, I found 3 mud dauber nests. Removed them and cleaned that space, but what should I do to prevent others taking up residence? I’ve seen here and on YouTube not to block/restrict air flow in that space.
Thanks for any advice!

They make stainless screens to go on the vent covers to keep them out, you just need to find them for your brand and vent size.

You may want to check the furnace also and put a screen over that opening. Those you can purchase on Amazon. It cost me $400 to clean them out of the inside of mine because the previous owner failed to do preventative maintenance.

As already mentioned, screening is needed; on the refer, water heater, and furnace.

Specially designed screens can be purchased for each. I used purchased screens for WH and furnace, and fabricated my own refer screening with plastic drywall edging.

With use of "screening" material, whatever it may be; air flow restriction shouldnt be a problem.

When sealing, think like the dauber; could you/they get through there?

IMHO screens are required on the fridge, furnace and WH vents. Installation is MUCH easier than digging those pesky things out.

While you're at it cut a small piece of screen and hot glue it to the inside on your rear bumper plugs. Those buggers will build a nest just about anywhere.

Great idea. I never thought of that space. I installed covers on the other spots within days of buying the trailer.

I'm always careful when I open up the cover for the LP gas as I fear there will be a nest in there too. I wonder if I can build a screen for that? Hmmm...

I just cut a piece of window screening and hot glued it on the inside of the fridge vent. Don't forget the top one if you have 2 vents.

Prior RVs I had grew nests in just about every opening. Not finding screens for my fridge openings I got some aluminum screen wire and cut pieces to fit behind both top and bottom and held in place by the vent panels. I take them out before use as they would cut down air flow. All the rest of the openings have commercial covers.
