Need Spare Tire Location

Hi all. We bought our first rv from a private owner. We didn't see a spare tire and wondered where does the spare mount go. I think it's behind the bumper, just underneath, but not sure. I appreciate you replies.

Sorry all. New to posting. We just bought a 2022 Greyhawk 27U. Thank you, again. Also, early in reading owner's manual, so understand with a motorhome you shouldn't try to change the tire yourself. So how often have owner's experienced a flat tire? Is having it towed an option? What are your experiences when you've had a flat tire, if ever?

I carry a spare as when mine was built, Jayco had a spare tire hoist under the rear just forward of the rear bumper.

The ability to change a tire is a bit particular to each RV'r. It is similar to changing a tire on a 1 ton pickup truck where you would need a large lug wrench, and a strong hydraulic jack as well. Calling for help is an option in some parts, although I have camped in locations where I didn't have cell phone service, which could certainly be the case where you camp as well.

If I didn't have a spare, I would at minimum carry a tire plug kit and an air compressor, in fact I carry that even with a spare tire. ~CA

I'm older and don't think I have the strength (or desire) to change a tire. So I don't carry a spare and will rely upon a roadside service when/if I get a flat. I do carry tire plugs and compressor in case that will get me to a place where I can get help. But there are a wide variety of opinions and solutions on this topic. I suggest you search for spare tire (use the search function in the yellow bar at the top) and read some of those for yourself.

You have a few options. Some rigs have room under the rear for a crank system to raise and lower a spare. A numberof members have added them. Some people use a mount in the reciever hitch. Some install a mount upfront.

A common solution is to place just a tire wrapped in plastic under the bed, or in a large cargo hold.

Roadside service will charge you a fortune for a tire, and it will not be a high quality tire. In some states, it is very difficult to procure the correct tire on a Sunday.

If you choose the change a tire, make sure you have the right tools. I believe the torque spec is about 140-150 lbft. A normal car is 100 lbft.

When Ford ships the E series cab/chassis to the manufacturer, it has a spare tire/rim under the rear, behind the rear axle. It is not on a hoist, but simply has a threaded attachment with bolt, and a chain securing it.
It is not uncommon for the manufacturer to take it off during the build, and NOT re-install it.
Do you need it and should you carry one ???
That's up to you and either your ability to change a flat (not hard if you have the proper tools) or your road service, if you have one.
Class C tires are common, but as been posted, you are at the mercy of the service as to what type of tire they will bring. If you have your own, than your home free, they will just mount your spare.
But, there are many areas where you may wait for hours (many) for a service to respond, and all the phone calls in the world will not hurry them up. I am familiar with several cases on the Alcan where some waited for several days to get someone to respond.
If you ever plan on that route, you must bring a spare with you.
If you are physically able, and have a proper heavy duty bottle jack and axle saddle (SafeJack Brand), a good quality battery impact (Kobalt or DeWalt....both have 450 lbs impact) than changing a flat is no harder than on a dually pick up truck.
Our previous rig, a Forrest River Lexington, I always carried a spare, and in my 70's, changed/rotated my tires myself.
