New 224BHW DOOR BENT?

Howdy All,

Bought a new 224BHW last week from a dealer in Missoula.

Looks like a few things got past the PDI.

Entry Door appears to be bent. The top engages before the bottom does. Necessitating that the door be pushed hard from the outside or “slammed” hard from the inside in order to close.

Initial response from my dealer was that there should be an adjustment. Other than the striker plate, I don’t see one.

Has anyone in the community had to deal with this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA,

Never worked on a rv door, but have installed hundreds of commercial doors. 1-the 2 sides of the opening are not plumb with each other, or 2-the door is racked. You should be able to use a string across the door at several angles to determine if the door is straight. A level should tell you if the jambs are plumb with each other. I agree with you that adjusting the strike will help the door latch easier, it does not adress the real issue. If the strike can be adjusted out, and the door still seals properly, that might be the best you can hope for.
I will be watching this thread, might learn something new.

The Lippert entry door does have a slight outward 'camber' to insure a good seal around the door when closed. There is a means of adjusting the degree of 'camber', but I'm not sure if it will address your particular issue.

The following JOF thread address the adjustment process:

LOL, having the same issue on my 242bhsw, I had just arrived at the conclusion that the door is bowed, glad to know it's intentional and maybe just needs some persuasion.

Not sure if this is it, you may be able to plumb the door by loosening and adjusting the depth of the hinges? I could see a sloppy install throwing that off. Again, not sure if I am right but good place to start.
