New 29RLDS Warranty Roof Issue - HELP!

A couple of days after we brought our new 29RLDS home, I noticed a problem at the roof line on the back wall. I submitted a service request to the dealer 2 weeks ago. They have done nothing and now won't even return my calls. I had a similar problem with them with our last trailer and had to report them to Jayco and the BBB. I'm sure they don't want to deal with me, but I'm stuck. Even though I ordered through National RVOne sales, it still had to get delivered to my local dealer.

I've attached some pics of the problem. I don't know what to do at this point.

Has anyone seen this type of problem?

Any idea what's causing the roofline issue and how bad it is?

If my dealer won't do anything, what are my options?

Thanks,
Andy

Call Jayco directly and ask for an alternative RV dealership or RV repair facility for your warranty work.

Since you decided to not allow them to make a few bucks on the sale why do you expect them to jump when you call for warranty work. Call jayco and ask for other service options. Maybe jayco will allow you to drive it to Indiana to the plant.

You've burnt your bridges with this dealer so at this point Jayco will be your only contact to get warranty work done in a timely manor. Other dealers are much to busy with their regular customers so you'll most likely find yourself at the end of their repair list.

It's a pretty common complaint with all the online dealers who only sell.

Dealers are independent and under no obligation to you or Jayco to service a rig that they did not sell. Call Jayco and get customer service to make a recommendation for a nearby dealer or tech who will be able to do warranty work.

This is one part of the RV Industry that chaps my rear end. I am buying a toy hauler in a few years when I retire with the intention of going to either the east or west coast and making an epic journey around the entire perimeter of this great nation of ours. If I have a problem while say in Glacier National Park in Northern Montana and someone tells me I have to go to a selling dealer in South Louisiana for a warranty issue I aint responsible for the fit I may throw at that point Aint these units made for intended travel

It's actually the same company. Local sales vs national sales that actually have an office at the local dealer. Since the unit was not in stock, the local dealer didn't want to do anything for the sale and we were forced to go through the national sales rep.

Jayco dealers should fix Jayco products.

They made plenty of money off of me. Delivery fee, new WDS, 3 warranties, etc. They made out pretty well. Besides, I shouldn't have to pay more money to get warranty work done and have a unit made the way it should be.

Hard to tell exactly whats going on in the pic. If it were me and I as getting a run around I'd fix that myself. Simply remove the trim, find out why it separated then replace it. Probably only take 3-4 hours max. Grab some Dicor self leveling to caulk the roof section. Not sure if there's some butyl tape under the trim but there should be. Just doesn't look worth going to war over IMO.

I travel a lot and when on the road have never had a dealer refuse to make emergency repairs. Often if they can they put it to the head of the line.. When they do that I make sure I also purchase something from the store as a sort of thank you

This is awesome news to hear because on the different owners forums that I have been monitoring as part of a research for buying an RV at retirement it has been a different story. I was beginning to worry about my retirement plans.

In looking at the photos and comparing it to my Starcraft 329BHU, which has the identical method of securing the roof down at the rear wall. It appears as if they missed a screw in that area of where the trim lifted. That trim should have the plastic insert. Remove the insert by prying it out and look to see if there's a screw in that portion of the trim or if there's a screw that has pulled out. Either way, grab yourself a couple 1" (I believe #10) self tapping sheet metal screws, tuck some butyl tape under the trim and run another screw or 2 into that area. Replace the plastic insert trim. Done in less than an hour. Beats messing around with a dealer saying see ya in 2-3 months while it sits on their back lot waiting in line.
