Odd warranty repair issue.

So, I took my Eagle 321RSTS In for warranty work, and one item was the rear frameless window seals. Both had shrunk or retracted and didn’t cover the corners on both windows. Just spoke to the dealer and they said they tried new seals and it didn’t take so I need new windows because the windows bowed out with new seals. He couldn’t explain it. Anyone else ever gone from needing seals to whole new windows? He estimated January for getting my trailer back because of waiting on jayco authorization etc.

My 28.5 rear framless window leaked because of the gasket and the dealer said this has been a problem on the bigger windows ! They used butyl tape and no problem since, just make sure that it's not to cold for the tape to compress.

I think there’s more to this story. I’m going to go up there today and get eyes on it. Seems odd a seal replacement would deform the window.

I went and put eyes on it, and then brought it home. They did a good job on the seal, but sure enough, the top left corner of the emer exit side of the rear windows showed daylight. I could slide my drivers license through. I went to Lowe’s and picked up some weather stripping. Tried it on the area of the new seal where I could see light, but that made the bottom bow out. I then decided to just stick it with window closed along the edge where I could see daylight. This should be fine till my new windows come in.

Dealer seldom follow customers request on repairs. Seams there's a Jayco warranty standard. I worked as a Ford line mechanic for many years. We repaired rearview mirrors with a special glue. When my operating mechanism from our window broke loose, the dealer said they had to replace the complete dual window. Took 4 weeks to get the windows, a couple of hours to install.

Go figure.

This one is weird, and from what I see the only way to fix it is to move the hinge point at the top of the window closer to the trailer. I’ll give them a shot at it. Guess I should be happy they noticed it still wasn’t right and didn’t try to send it home with me that way. I chose to take it off their hands while we wait in parts and and I think my weather stripping will keep the water out just fine.

While you are waiting on the new windows, you may want to confirm that your Jayco service warranty claim has identified the correct "frameless" window manufacture for replacement(s).

I had all my vertical wiper seals shrink on my "frame" style windows and my dealer processed the Jayco service warranty claim based on Lippert Components (LCI) windows. The same claim was also based on replacing the windows thinking that the seals weren't replaceable.

I felt the seals could just be replaced and after some investigating I found my windows were actually manufactured by Cleer Vision Windows (manufacture name on corner of window)..., and Cleer Vision Windows actually had a how-to video (with correct seal #) on replacing the seals. My dealer re-submitted the warranty claim and I now have all new seals installed by my dealer.

Just food for thought..

X2 Rustic; Jayco has assigned investigator (by name) and assigned warranty invoices that they will share with customers.

Very helpful.
