Oder from grey tank?

We have a 29rlds Jayco and there is often a strong oder coming from the vacume breaker valves under the kitchen and bath sinks. Why would these be necessary and vent them inside the trailer? We use the proper products to control oder in both tanks. We also empty our tanks once a week. Are the valves bad, our unit is 1 year old?

Sounds like you are referring to the black screw-in Air Admittance Valves located after the "P" traps. These are used to prevent vacuum in drain lines so the 'P' traps don't get emptied when you dump the tanks.

The valves could be sticking, I guess one could unscrew them and try soaking them, but they are fairly inexpensive item to replace.

Also, check that your roof stink pipes aren't blocked.

Hope this helps.

by the way we only have one roof vent. I have had previous trailers with two. Could this be the problem.
