Output short and no trailer brakes

That's not a really good feeling when you're going to stop at highway speeds and the brake controller is telling you you have no trailer brakes! I'd let up off the brake pedal and re-engage, and it might work, or it might not. This continued for several stops. I'd start slowing down way before the next stop, though.

Made it to the CG and climbed under to, hopefully, spot something obvious. Luck was with me as I found the problem right away. Both wires had become disconnected at the right-rear wheel.

Simple fix with a couple of household wire caps and the brake controller is happy.

My sister works at Lippert and I asked if she can get me a couple of those connectors.

Meanwhile, they're capped and taped for the return trip.

Very useful items to have. That has happened to us. Brake wires just broke mid trip.. It is a bit unsettling when it happens on mountain roads in the rain!

Holy cow! No kidding! I presume you made it safely to your destination. I didn't have much in the way of big hills; I could just imagine.

Just imagine Granpa and Grandma out for a Sunday drive with a trailer. We were fortunate that there was no traffic to hold up and we went downhill in low gear with engine braking.

Phew! I wish engine braking was a little more effective. Given it a gasser, maybe why. I use it none the less.

If it was mine I would use heat shrink tubing and heat shrink butt connectors for the repair and not wait for the connectors . I always carry these items with me for repairs.
