Pop up crank system

I have a 1997 8 ST pop up and I had issues with the roof being level so I took it to a RV repair place. They discovered some shoddy repair work on the lift system, I had them replace the right rear cable and lift arm, plus a spring that was twisted. The big problem is that there is a metal channel right after the crank that had pulleys on each end and one had broken off some time ago , so someone welded it to the crank. The shop said it's a matter of time until it fails and they couldn't find one. Anyone have ideas?
