Propane Line
I have a 16 Eagle 314BHDS. We got home last Sat from a week In Lake George and all was great. I crawled under it today to disconnect the sway command and found a large hole in the Propane line. It had to have happened since I got home, in fact there were pieces of the insulation from the line on the ground underneath. I immediately thought animal but then thought it might have been cut. I know its a long shot but anybody ever come across something like this?

For a cut the hole seems pretty big. It looks like more towards an animal direction.

Rodent of some kind.. when you replace the propane line put some split wire loom over it as added protection..

Has anyone ever spliced one of these lines? They ran one single line from the propane tanks to just before the rear door. It's a pretty long line. Probably better to replace the whole thing, just have to fine one.

If you have a propane dealer in your area they can make you a custom hose of any length. I think that would be your best bet.

Do all newer trailers use plastic/rubber hoses for the main lines, end to end? My 2011 TT has a steel pipe main line from front to back, with copper tubing going to the appliances.
There is a 4 foot or so section of rubber propane hose running from the regulator to the front end of the steel pipe, but I never had a rodent chew on it, at least not yet.

Seems that way. Much cheaper than using copper pipe.

Mine is copper until it gets to the area where it moves. I would replace it with something with a mesh just in case he is still hungry.
In my yard the squirrels sharpen their teeth on the aluminum wraps that hold the chain link fence up. I have to continually replace them.

Thanks, I agree replacing the whole thing would be better. Thanks for the tip on where to buy, I will go this week. I removed it today, 20ft of hose from propane tanks back to the first junction.

Appears that way. My 16 Eagle is all rubber front to back, no steel at all. My Rockwood I just sold was like yours. I think its a far better way to go but as someone mentioned rubber front to back will save manufacturers a few bucks. I would rather pay the extra. My brother in law has a new reflection and his are all steel so I guess its not all.

I need some advice from someone who knows more than me on this subject, which is probably pretty much anyone. I contacted Jayco who said I could not buy the gas line direct from them, I had to call my dealer and it would be a 4 wk lead time. I called he dealer who had no pricing, nor knew how much shipping charges would be and it would be at least 4 weeks. I went to 2 propane dealers that would not help me so I went to another local rv dealer and they said they could have one made up for me in 3 days no problem. After over a week I got it today and the ID is different. The one on the right is the old one. My question is, will there be any delivery issues to the camper with the smaller ID? I noticed this after I got it home and compared to the old. I had the old one with me when I ordered it and the guy had it in his hand.
Any advice would be apprecaited

I expect you will be ok. Is the rubber tube the same OD?

RB,
As asked, is the hose itself the same size? Look on the hose, it should have the id molded into the rubber. If it's just the fitting you should be fine. IF the hose is actually a little smaller id then there is a slim chance you may have an issue if everything is running at the same time.

I just looked, it is smaller. The old hose was 1/2 ID the new is 3/8.

It should be 1/2" in order to supply enough propane flow. Take it back and bring the old hose with you. They can remove the old fittings and install a new 1/2 ID propane hose.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I hooked it up today and ran the burners on the stove , fridge and furnace at the same time. All seemed to be ok and operating normally. We are going out this coming weekend so we will see what happens. Hopefully there won't be any issues. If there are I will def be going back to the dealer.
