Propane question
This is leaking. I verified with sound and soapy water. I have zero experience with propane. If I take that nut out going into square looking thing, what do I put on the threads?
I tried tightening, and it was really snug already.

On the threads you can use one of two products. "Yellow" Teflon tape or pipe dope. Make sure the threads are clean before applying. Thread back together. Tight but not to tight.
Recheck with soap, I like using kids bubbles.

Propane question
Forgive my lack of terminology.
The round part screwed in at a right angle to the cube shaped part is leaking propane. I verified it with sound and with soapy water.
I'd really like to use my unit and not have to wait for a week.
I'm not very experienced with propane.
1. Any harm of disconnecting tank and removing the part sticking into the cube?
2. What do I put on the threads to prevent future leaks.
Anything else I need to know? Please assume I'm totally new, cause I am.

Nope, just make sure the gas is turned off. You will smell the residual gas when you disconnect the hose.
One thing to keep in mind if you use the Teflon tape method. Do NOT apply any tape in the first full thread. As you do not want any tape particles in the hose that can make its way to a jet, and plug it up.
One more thing, minimum of three wraps, I never apply more than 5, the max number of wraps is not as critical.

Buy some yellow Teflon tape that is for use on natural gas and propane. Unless the threads are messed up you should be good to go. Verify with soapy water once you get everything back together! Just make sure you use the tape on all the connections you take apart, and wrap it in the correct direction!!!!
Just make sure it is tight, but don't over tighten it.

Where exactly is it leaking? If its leaking where the threads go into the Square 90 deg elbow, the elbow may have a small crack in it. If you are comfortable undoing the hose, remove the elbow and clean it up and inspect it, replace if you need to. Lowes, Home Depot will have the fittings you need. If it's the hose fitting, go back to the dealer. To seal the threads you need a thread sealant suitable for LP. I usually use Yellow teflon tape with the thread sealant on the tape. Use the sealant sparingly, don't blob it on there or you could cause blockages downstream in the line.

According to the bubbles, it is leaking from the round one where it is screwed into the cube shaped one. I'm on hold till tomorrow, Lowe's if you can believe it was out of the tape, and home depot was closed.

You can use conventional pipe sealant in a small tube also.

Have you tried to counter hold the square fitting followed by carefully tightening the nut at the right angle side? I would give this a try before removing it and reapplying yellow tape or joint compound. You can always check with the soap test as you have been doing once you tweak it tighter. Let us know how it turns out.
