Questions about wiring

Hi. Bear with me, electricity baffles the heck out of me! I've got a '93 Eagle 8 that has a 12V battery system for interior lights. The wiring harness that I've found for this is sort of decayed so I'd like to redo the connections. I've attached a couple pictures of each end of the wiring harness.

The vehicle side is the standard flat 4 wire, 4 pin connector. The other, camper end, is a rectangular 6 wire, 6 pin connector. Two of these six wires look to have gone to the battery.

To make this work again, is the only thing I need to do is put new connectors on those two wires (black and yellow) and reattach them to the battery and presto all is good again? Is it that simple?

Have you looked for a connector that fits between? Is it a back up and hot wire you are losing?

I don't think so, but I'll look.

I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at, but will try to deduce.
Look at this link for standard trailer wiring colors:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traile..._North_America

on your flat four vehicle side, the colors match what I'm used to seeing:
Yellow - left turn/brake
green - right turn/brake
brown - tail lights
white - ground

a 6-way rectangular has these:
yellow - left turn/brake
green - right turn/brake
brown - tail lights
white - ground
red - aux power
blue - electric brakes.

Hooking a 4 pin TV connection to a 6-pin TT connector won't give you battery charging or electric brakes while towing.

The picture of the yellow spliced into the red isn't a good idea.

I would suggest starting over and build a new pig-tail (the "technical" term for what your picture shows).

What is your tow vechicle and what type of connectors does it have? most new vehicles have both a flat four connector and a 7-pin connector.

What does the 6 pin side of your pig-tail plug into? what are those wire colors?

We can do this without going to a service center!!

standard 6 pin adds a hot wire and trailer brakes
standard 7 pin adds hot wire, trailer brakes and backup lights.

I doubt a '93 trailer has backup lights.

Thanks, Sundancer. That pigtail will get me the brake and running lights, but nothing for the 12V system...

Okay, so I wimped out and (hey, it's cold here) and decided to forego the 12V battery stuff for the time being and go with an interior lighting system powered by two C batteries, link below. If you don't tell anybody they're called "fairy lights", I won't either.
