Range exhaust vent not working - new trailer
My new 29.5BHDS 5th wheeler is 1 week old. When i tried the range exhaust fan it will not turn on. The light to the cooktop works but no fan. Does the exhaust flap have to be open to work? How do you even get the outside flap open? I reviewed all the wiring to the switch and to the fan and all is intact but didnt check with a multimeter. Should take back to dealer but 2.5 hrs away and will do so at a later date.

The outside vent should be open but it will run without it open. There are 2 mechanical tabs at the bottom of the vent on the outside. gently push up on them to release.
There still appears to be a problem. If you remove the filter under the vent hood, you may see the fan blades. You will know when it's on because it is noisy.

Tried to open flapper - what a pain. I took the range vent a part and all the wire is entacted and connections made. The light is working but fan blades not spinning. Thought it might be something simple but not

The switch for the fan might be bad, or one of the wires might be disconnected from it. I'd check that. Could also be a bad fan motor.

use a multi meter and check for where there is power and not...

Have you checked the fuse? The fuse panel is right under the oven. Open it up and use a needle nose pliers to pull out and inspect the fuse. Now, if the light works and the fan doesn't, usually it's not the fuse. But, check it any way.

There is also an inline thermocoupler ahead of the fan motor. If you have created a lot of heat by cooking without the exhaust vent open, it will blow that thermocoupler. Only being a week old, that wouldn't seem to be the problem. Voltage tester would take the guess out of it.

Ours didn't work on the first trip out either. I will have to ask DH but there was something "extra" he took out wiring wise and it worked fine after that. I want to say it was a switch. It was last year so my memory is going. It was not a fuse and the light worked. I will check with him and post.

We talked last night. DH can't remember exactly but we think it was an in-line fuse or switch that we removed and the fan has worked great the last year since. Hope you were able to figure it out.
