One thing I use is a nonpenitrating moisture meter. Checking along where the roof meets sidewalls, along floor where it meets sidewalls, and under windows. Good detection method where moisture might be hiding.

I lead Research and Development at several adhesive and sealant companies in my career. One great product to use is Quad Clear. The OEM motorhome MFRs use it. You can buy it at Lowe’s Etc. silicone will last a long time and has good flexibility. However unless you get all the old off including the residue with acetone nothing will stick to the area - except other silicone. Silicone will stick to silicone just don’t get the water cleanup type.

In terms of overpainting silicone there are additives silicone mfrs add to help paint sticking on certain formulations but it only works when the silicone is fresh. It does pick up a lot of dirt.

Again you cannot go wrong with Quad clear. Don’t get the white etc as they are a different formula more latex type.

For the walls I use ISO Quad, very sticky stuff. Use painters tape to make nice clean lines, and lots of very soapy water for the finger to work it.

I was told by Jayco they use ISO Quad on the vertical surfaces and Dicor self leveling on horizontal surfaces. I also cast a vote for Eternabond tape.

I have been using the white for 4 years or so on this TT. It has held on very well. I have not had to re caulk any of these areas (yet). I picked white, as my TT is white, and has white sealant.

Thanks for the information, I will have to look in to it.

Also Silicone will eventually go black with dirt.

The old stuff is looking bad although I am sure there is a wide tape there. My question since I can’t get this sealant off without removing doors can I use pro flex over it.
