Rear Bunk Leak
Hi everyone! I am the owner of a 23B since May of this year. My wife and I have been on three trips and love the TT I have been browsing the forum for a couple of months and have gotten a lot of good information. I have a question for the group. Has anyone experienced a rear bunk leak caused by the rear door not closing tight. The dealer says there is a 1/8 bow across the top of door. They recommend replacing the door and frame at a cost of $2000. Called Jayco - they said - because I am the second owner their warranty does not cover anything. If anyone has suggestions, I am all ears.

There has to be a better way then a complete replace! I have heard some talk about replacing the hinge type levers with a complete bar lever that goes across the entire top.....which I wonder would be cheaper and create a complete seal. I hope someone who has done this may speak up!

You might consider searching or posting in this forum as there are many hybrid owners there. BTW welcome to the forum! http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fu...s/forum/68.cfm

I'm puzzled how a 1/8" bow would be the root cause. One would think that the seal would address a 1/8" deviation. I would invest in a new seal before replacing the door.
Another thought would be to add another clamp (like the ones on the sides) above the door near the center, mounted off one of the front cap frame studs. May be a little tough to reach..., but just thinking out loud here.

I would agree. Over that length, a 1/8" bow would probably not even be visible. I am sure mine has that, and there are no leaks. After putting a few hundred pounds into the bunks a few times while camping, I am sure they won't stay 100" straight, and 1/8" is not much, should easily be compensated for by the seals.

When the bunk is closed, you can see a fair amount of light. I think there is a problem with the frame of the door, which the dealer wants to replace with door. --- Thanks for all the suggestions. They gave me some good ideas. I am going to try a couple of things before replacing door. I really thought Jayco would have stepped up and provided some help in this situation.

One of the trailer dealers in my area has a parts store and in the back they sell doors and other trailer parts that have not been used or have extra of. You could buy a door with identical skin and size it to fit the one with the bow. The frame could be done the same. This way could easily save you 1500 dollars and probably more. Just how I would di it if it were me. Hope this helps.

I fixed it without spending $2000.00 . I bought 1/4" weather stripping and went all the way around inside of door bezel (metal flange). We have had three good rain storms and not a drop. Thanks for all the good advice.
