Refrigerator roof vent cracked

I was doing some other work on my roof yesterday and noticed a pretty big crack on my refrigerator vent. I was already doing some dicore work so I put a layer over it. Should I replace this vent? Or will the dicor take care of it?

Also, the trailer is still under warranty. Is this a warranty repairable item? Or would it be considered wear and tear. I just got the trailer back after the dealer having it for nearly four months for an axle replacement. I don't want to take it back.

Replace it. They are around $20 on Amazon, depending upon the fridge type. You should have 4 screws at the corners that are buried in Dicor. Back them out, pop off the old vent and install the new one. Put some Dicor over the new screws and continue on your way.

Way cheaper, faster and easier than taking to the dealer.

Or put a run of Eternabond over the crack. I’d probably opt to replace it though if the part is that cheap and easily accessible.

I'd take the picture to your dealer and see if they will give you the new cover. Otherwise as spoon59 said just buy one and avoid hassle. It definitely looks like the crack originates at the mounting screw which means it may have been overtightened.

Not that expensive and easy to replace, usually just 4 screws holding it on.

Thanks for the advice. My big block would spend $20 in gas going to the dealer and back with it.

Long term, get a new cover. Short term, piece of electrical or duct tape, to keep any rain out.

If it will be a few months. Drill a 1/16 to 1/8 inch hole at the end of the crack to stop if from growing. Then use electrical or eternabond to seal it. As cheap duct tape will dry out in a few weeks.
