Removing window treatments

Hi folks
I need to replace the shade on this window. Is there a trick to removing the window treatment to get to the shade? I’m not seeing any obvious mounting points except the two on either side at the bottom

How did you do it? I've wondered the same thing, I'd kind of like to put in blinds.

Thanks

Does the valence not come off with a couple of screws? Mine are pretty easy to get off, after which I have full access to the top blind mounting (my dining table blind is really wide and gets screwed up from time to time).

It's much easier if you remove the valance first. My valances only have 4 screws. The screw heads are #2 square drive. They use those heads on most everything on the MH or trailer. I've replaced all my shades with MCDs.

Removing window treatments

You really have to remove the valance to do it.
First I removed the the phillips screw from each side at the bottom from the wall leaving the bracket still attached to the valance. Remove the round ‘button’ that holds the shade cord.
Then there are two screws up top behind the shade (bi&ch to get to!). Once these are removed, the valance comes right down with the shade still attached to it.Click image for larger version

Then just remove broken shade from valance and attach the new one to the valance and reinstall valance.
Lastly is attaching the new buttons where the old ones were.

Sorry for the bad pics

Removing window treatments

As a seasonal site guy, the next time I need a shade, I’ll probably get the cordless ones cut to size from Home Depot like I have at home. The cords on the RV shades are weak and break easily. For a stationary rig, the corded ones aren’t really necessary. This one was replaced under warranty so that’s why I used it.

They're custom roller shades. Here's their web site. You can get them a day/night option (actually a double roller shade) or just a regular black out night shade. They also have a selection of colors.

I need to remove half of my valances as the long ones are all warped and twisted. Looks like I have some fun in my future.

Hate to disappoint you but I really don't think the roller shades will help much with insulating the window. If you already have the day/night shades, I would think they would be a better insulator. If you have no shades, then yeah, they would help a little. If you don't have a valance, they can also be attached to the wall. I also like that they will roll up on their own (if adjusted properly). I have the manual ones.

MCD are a brand of blinds. All of the new high end class A have them. We replaced all of ours 6 months ago. We LOVE them, they help keep the Seneca much cooler and I can still see out and it is hard to see in from the out during the day. they are a 2 roller style. They are great people to work with. We ordered on line and installed ourself. Here is a link The #1 RV Roller Shades Manufacturer | MCD Innovations

You might want to add some tint film to your windows. I just went to the hardware store and got the stuff made for max UV blocking. Apply according to instructions and it is fairly easy (just a bit 'wet' ). Made a huge difference in the heat of summer.

Shades will also help too.

These are interesting. Anybody else have the Duo's installed? I was wondering how much it helped w/ keeping heat out of the RV in a very hot environment (eg., Texas in the summer). Thanks.
