The only "maintenance" on a house or RV air is clean filters...the RV also need occasional mounting bolts check. The reason one needs to run a vehicle air conditioner is to lubricate the seal on the drive.

I climb up at the beginning of the season and hose out the condenser same as you would a home AC outdoor unit and of course keep the inside filter elements clean. I made a second set for the inside and swap them. I clean the dirty ones with Dawn dish liquid and let them dry. Store them in a huge baggy.

I spoke to Coleman about this very topic. The adviser said there is no need to run the air conditioner periodically to lubricate it, or for any other reason.

Agreed with the AC bolts. I was running some RCA wires from the newly installed stereo receiver and took the paneling down on the AC unit. Two of the four bolds were fully loose, and one had never never been bolted through the appropriate hole. It was into part of the roof material. Never get googlie eyed guy to threat the bolds, Jayco.

After the -6º snowmageddon here in Texas [one week later] we had a 70º day so I ran the AC to make sure it worked and was self-lubricating.

I like to check any and all systems after a weather change. You can't do anything but help yourself to have the heat, AC, fridge, and other systems ready to hit the road without a painful delay.

I am a retired HVACR Mechanic and engineer.
Like all compressors with pistons, cranks, valves, rings and bearings, the oil will drain from these surfaces and over time will have an effect on the bearing surfaces.
Can hurt to run it every few months.
