Rubber strip detaching .. Help?

I need to reattach the strip of rubber covering the screws along the top of the rear of the TT. See the photo attached.

It looks like there is some adhesive or caulking involved.

How do I reattach this? What kind of caulking should I use?

On a previous trailer, this type of trim just squeezed into the track.
Once my trailer was about 10 years old, the material got brittle and I had to replace it. Almost all camping stores sold it in 25ft rolls for cheap in either black or white.

But your trailer is only 2 years old? Have you tried just pushing it back into the slots on either side? I'm not sure I'd gum things up with silicone or similar - it may make more sense to just get new trim.

I'll try to work it back in and see if it cooperates.

I wasn't sure if there was a bead of caulk in there too.

Pretty much just a cosmetic vinyl insert trim. Should be able to fit it back in the track as BuddyRay mentioned. We have ours completely sealed with Geocel ProFlex sealer, just as a precaution to keep ALL water away from the screws.

I just replaced all of mine on a 10 year old. Most is 1", but some is 3/4". I bought a 100' roll of 1" and neede more. Hint: I found that using a hair dryer to soften the vinyl really makes it easy to insert into slots. No sealer needed.

A little heat and a rubber mallet will do the job.

I had to replace a piece on the back of my trailer that shrunk after the first year. About $10 for a roll of the stuff. No need for a hair dryer. Definitely no need for a rubber mallet. Just pinch it and push it in. A little clear caulk on the ends to hold it. Took me about 10 minutes.

Don't try and work the old stuff back in. It won't stay and it will drive you crazy.
