screen door wont latch
Hi all,
I recently bought a jayco x213 and left the dealer without realizing the screen door doesn't latch (oops!). It appears the latch on the screen door doesn't catch the receptacle on the frame. I think I should move the receptacle on the frame a little down and over so the latch catches it- does this make sense? I am not sure what the set up is supposed to look like so kinda guessing... pics below

It's adjustable. Play around with the latch adjustment till it suits.

Thx norty- by adjustable, do you mean I can loosen the screws and move it around a bit?

Yes, it has to latch and also capture the outside latch when it is closed.

I had the same issue. Never did get to work right. Went to dealer and he gave me a replacement under warranty. Installed myself and all is fine. They are fairly cheap if you are out of warranty.

spent about 5 minutes with a screwdriver- got it working, its not perfect, but is functional... thanks for the help

The screen latch on my Skylark didn't latch very well and would open if it was light bumped. I fixed it by making some shims out of some plastic that was about 1/16" thick. Adding the shim gave the latch enough grip to stay closed even when bumped.

@us- I would really like to hear more about your shims. what were they attached to? how do they work?
I adjusted the screws on the door and the receptacle, and it sort of works, but got hung up on the latch, so it really wasnt working correctly. then I moved the receptacle (drilled new holes) on the door frame and did more adjustments. As of right now it technically works, but it is a really weak connection and doesnt latch well. So I am interested in your fix. What I have found is the foam that is supposed to seal the door in the frame pushes the screen door open, so it is a delicate balance between latching and being able to open the screen door without it catching on the receptacle (and eventually breaking). The Jayco install team did me no favors on the door

FYI - it doesn't appear to be adjustable in the way that he needs it adjusted (up/down). IMHO, it was assembled incorrectly.

Moving it may be the only way to fix it if it was not aligned properly when installed. Bummer
