slideout sealer tape

Hello. Attached is a pic of my rear slide out. Notice the tape material is peeling up? What is the name of this material so I can buy it? My local jayco dealer parts dept has no clue on what it is even after I showed them the picture. I'll do the job myself because I don't want to wait years for parts. P.s. still waiting for parts from last year and from when we took delivery in 2011. Thanks in advance.

Not a hard job, just make sure you clean things up good and roll the edges down well. Eternabond tape is very common to rubber roofs and perhaps someone higher up at the dealership needs to know that the parts guy has never heard of the stuff. He might need some time in the service bay.

I had a similar issue with my slide when the trailer was under warranty. The dealer removed the old tape and put down new tape; the tape they used was not Eternabond. From my use of Eternabond, I think it would work well, however. The old tape needs to be removed and the area under the tape needs to be cleaned up well; Eternabond includes good application instructions. Since the slide seals slide over this tape, I think the leading edge of the tape should have a small caulk bead, smoothed out, so that there is no edge for the seals to catch on.

X2 This is a very important step in doing it correctly.

I think I'd look for another place to get parts and for sure service. your experience doesn't inspire any confidence (or maybe it's the first time they've seen a slide).

Nothing special from Jayco needed. Just make sure it's "Eternabond" and you should be GTG.

I replaced the Eternabond tape on the top of my slide out a year or so ago and it's starting to peel a bit on the edge. When I get back from my next trip I'll try the small bead of Geocel Pro-Flex on the edge and see if that solves the problem.

I bought my small roll of Eternabond from Amazon I think. No need to get raked over the coals by your dealer.

Funny how dealers think that if you can afford an RV you can afford to pay double the reasonable price for parts and accessories.
