Stove Backsplash
We have a 2-burner stove with a woodgrain wall panel beside it, and a "wallpaper" panel behind it. We often cook bacon, causing some grease splash on the walls. So far they wipe off well. But I figure eventually the walls will get damaged.
I can be proactive and put up a backspalsh now, or wait till the walls need repair.
We found some "plastic" 18"x24" panels at Home Depot, but they were too textured for the wife. Too hard to clean. Anyone know of a suitable alternative, preferably something relatively "flat", yet washable?

Get a piece of clear plexi glass at Lowes they stock it right next to the sheet glass in the hardware section. I installed mine with 3M double sided tape and that's in the paint section. I cut the tape in 2" pieces, one at each corner and then one placed on the edge between the corners.

A lot of people use plexi glass. If you secure it with screws or Velcro you can easily remove it for cleaning or replacement.

Wife uses one of these and props it against the wall to stop the splatter
covers the stove and makes extra counter top making sandwiches and stuff.

Best way to cook bacon is in the oven....stays flat, no splattering and easy to make as crispy as you like.

I thought about Plexiglas but didn't like the way it looks.
We don't have an oven.

Some people have used these as the backsplash. They are washable.

Very rarely cook anything indoors. Usually just boiling water and such. Seems like food odors linger a little too long for my taste. But, the plexi-glass idea sounds like a great fix!

We bought an electric griddle and cook breakfast on it outside. I'm lazy and don't want to have to clean up the inside of the TT. Actually, between the grill and the griddle, we try to cook as many meals as we can outside.

Assuming you are parked with hook-ups for your rig. We bring the electric frypan with us just for cooking those stronger odored messy foods, and cook outside.

We also prefer to cook outside either on the open fire, gas grill or the electric fry pan. But when cooking inside the backsplash is an issue, especially for bacon. On my to-do list is to add the plastic "smart tiles" from Home Depot. They look real nice and clean up easily. Check it out at Home Improvement Made Easy with New Lower Prices | Improve & Repair.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

+1 for Smart Tiles from Home Depot.
A few on here have done it, and I've read about it on a few different RV blogs. They are a little pricey IMO, but for what you get, I think it's worth it. The projects I've looked at have looked great, like that's the way they should come from the factory. I even watched a video where a guy installed them in a residential kitchen and it turned out really nice for the money and effort. I always thought the tile printed wall paper was kind of cheesy, and these tiles give it a much better look and much better functionality. They are smooth too, so cleanup is easy.

I think the reference was toward the plexiglas being invisible.....LOL.
We don't cook outdoors either. Unless its Summer of course. We camp almost year round. Gotta have breakfast even if its raining or snowing outside. Also, gotta have bacon no matter what anybody says. The anti bacon people are also the global warming people.
Amywhoot, thanks to all for the comments...
