Tape seal on top of slide out

Hi everyone,

I have a Jayflight 28BHS (first time trailer owner) and noticed that on the top of the slide out there is a type of tape seal at one end? not the all around rubber seal but actually on the top (roof) of the slide out. It is a 2 to 3 inch white type tape going horizontally across - it is starting to lift and wanted to address before water/issues arise. What type of "tape" is this and how do I go about fixing it?

Thanks in advance!

Pierre

Get yourself a roll of Eternabond Tape thats probably whats up there. Lots of videos on Youtube on how to prep and apply the tape, great for roof repairs. https://www.amazon.com/White-Eternab...70_&dpSrc=srch

Thank you for your quick reply and suggestion - is there a reason why the tape is there? to my knowledge, no actual repair had been done, as I know the previous owner. Does it come like that from factory?

Thanks again,

Pierre

Thats how it comes from the factory, not much clearance for trim to hold it in place on a slide, the tape works great.

The factory tape covers the screw heads on the top outer edge of the slideout. The factory tape should be removed before applying the new Eternabond tape and can be done by a hair dryer heating up the glue for removal. Clean the surface with the Eternabond cleaner and reapply the new tape and do not stretch the tape. Use a quality roller to activate the glue in the new tape. Many on this forum have done this.

Great instructions and advice - thank you as I was unsure how to proceed to do a proper removal and install.
