Tear in heating duct
My turn to ask a question! My X20E has a heating duct that runs through my storage compartment. Earlier this summer I put a hole in it when removing one of my fire pit tools. This was on a trip where we did need the heat at night so I put a piece of duct tape in it. I forgot about it.
I'm now cleaning and prepping for putting it to bed for the winter and noticed the duct tape patch was drying out. I removed the tape but now the duct is almost completely severed. What can I do with this? Replacing the entire duct looks painful. I there something other than plain old duct tape that I can wrap it with and rejoin the split ducting?

Measure the ID of the hose.
Buy a section of the same size at Home Depot or Lowes along with 2 sets of the correct splicing components. $30 or so in parts. 1 hour to cut away the damaged area and effect a permanent repair.

If it is the flexible type, you can likely just replace the whole piece or splice it as suggested.

Mike I thought about that. It's pretty flimsy stuff though, more like aluminum foil and a lot less like a dryer vent. No doubt to save weight. And I believe it's 4", which seems to be the standard for RVs.
Norty replacing the entire piece looks painful. I think I'd have to remove a section of the dinette to get at it. And part of it is behind a wall because one section of the dinette rolls out as an ottoman.

You need to use the following to get a long-lasting seal, 3M Metallized Flexible Duct Tape 3350, great tape, won't dry out like duct tape and fall apart.

The metalized duct tape is the correct item to use. If you can patch it with that. If not, go to Home Depot and buy a metal spice joint, and two large radiator clamps. Cut the duct the rest of the way apart and then put it back together.
I used the metal duct tape when I was remodeling my house. Worked really nice. Once it sticks it is stuck and will stay permanently. It is not cheap stuff.
