Threshold gasket

The gasket under my door threshold is coming out. I tried removing the threshold but it is not budging. Removed 3 inside screws, hoping to find screws holding outside piece on. Maybe it is caulked down...seems very tight. Has anyone run into this? I thought it would be an easy job to just loosen, tuck back in and tighten down.

I’m guessing that it’s been “pressed” into place buy thousands of steps that have been placed on it. When you consider the amount of abuse that that step will take in its lifetime it’s very probable that Manufacture you some kind of sealant in addition to the screws to hold it in place. If that is the case, it’s unlikely that you will get yours off without damaging it.

I see two options:
1) you buy a new one and simply go in with the attitude you’re going to remove the old one regardless of how it’s removed. and simply replace it with a brand new one.

2) You attempt to remove this one using a putty knife and a prybar with the hopes that you don’t cause too much damage and it is reusable. If you go in with this option, I would make sure you find a replacement before attempting to remove it just so your bases are covered. Then if you need it because you damaged the original you simply order it or you order it first and if you don’t need it you return it.

Thank you for the ideas. I was able to force the gasket back in with two putty knives for now. I think I will try to order a new threshold and when it arrives see how it fastens down...because sooner or later I am sure I will need to replace it. Then I will be ready when that day comes. Thanks again.
