Torsion Axle Life Expectancy

I have a 1992 Jayco Cardinal SD that I want to get back on the road, its been just sitting since 1998. I was reading a bit on the axles and wondering about how they can be expected to last. It appears they have sort of rubber inside and it would seem that would break down over time. This trailer does not have a lot of miles on it, but it does have almost 25 years.

Is there a way I check em out?

Just check the angle arm on them: empty and loaded. There are Airstreams from the 60's who still have the same TorFlex axles on them. The rubber is in a tube not exposed to UV-rays. There are Volkswagen Beatles still around from the 40's with the same axles.
That's all the use on utility and Travel Trailers in Europe. They don't use metal springs like North America. I always preferred Torflex Axles above springs. Springs have to much play in them and are noisy during travel.
Good luck with your 1992.
