Trailer Tire Prices

Here's today's prices on some radial trailer tires:

205/75-14

FREE SHIPPING

(4) Trailer King radial - eBay - $187 (came on my 21' trailer)

(4) Carlisle radial - Discount Tire - $192

(4) Towmax radial - eBay - $209

(4) Maxxis radial - Discount Tire - $368

(4) Goodyear Endurance radial - Discount Tire - $440 (came on my Jayco)

Everyone wants the best, everyone sells the best, everyone recommends the best (if it's not your money).

Which do you like... considering the cost?

My trailer king tires worked fine but were worn out after two years. I also kept speed in check as they were rated at 65 mph, didn't overload our trailer and made sure they were inflated properly and visually inspected before every trip. When we replaced them we replaced them with Goodyear Marathons (pre Endurance). Did the same process with the Marathons although they had a higher speed rating so I didn't worry about a few extra MPH and regularly towed at 67-68 mph.

I wanted Maxxis M8008s but didn't plan ahead enough so I settled for Goodyears which were also made in China.

So if 80 bucks isn't a big deal - Goodyear
If 80 bucks is a consideration - Maxxis

I wouldn't do a 14 inch tire from China if I had options no matter what the savings.

New rig has Endurance tires on it and I'll probably stick with them unless I move to a 17.5 inch tire (which is highly unlikely unless we have issues with the 16 inch Endurance tires)

I still like Goodyear, they have always approved my claim when I did have a legitimate issue. I usually buy from my local dealer (might be a little more) but I can check the tire date right then and there.

I still went with the goodyear endurance even considering price. We shall see how they hold up as time goes by but so far they have been great (5k miles). Obviously you should buy what you can afford but tires are pretty darn important and I am not willing to buy tires that are perceived by me (for whatever reasons) as poor quality. One blowout or other tire problem more than makes up for the $250 spread in your listed prices. A tire problem can very quickly ruin a day or even a trip. If most anything else doesn't work on the trailer I can get by without one way or another but no tire means no go until repaired or replaced. I guess I just consider the higher cost of quality tires (again my perception) every 5ish years as added insurance

If you have a 5th wheel Sailun is the only tire that I will ever use. Goodyear marabombs and anything from china are junk and for the price of the endurance you might as well go with Sailun.

I do not mind paying for the best. Tire troubles can mess up a trip and cost lots more than the cost of a few tires.

Age is always a factor. Remember to replace the spare. Learned the hard way. Always remember to match or exceed the load range.
