Water Heater Leak

Noticed water on the floor near the water heater access panel on our 248rsbw.

Traced it to leaking right angle swivel fittings on the tank.

Leaking at the swivel.
Tightening the connection made it worse.

Going to have to replace the fittings!

May only need new cone washers....

Could you please confirm that you talked about the connection as the photos here on my whitehawk 28BHS? I discovered some minor leaking there and struggle how to fix it. Please let me know what your find outs. Thanks!

I have had that same leak twice.

First time, I removed the PEX fitting, and snugged up the pipe nipple.

Second time (following year), I removed the pipe nipple, applied a new pipe dope, and reassemble. It has not leaked since.

Thanks, for the second time, did you remove the PEX fitting, then applied the pipe dope on the pipe nipple? I am confused when you said remove the pipe nipple. Is it hard to remove even the PEX fitting? It feels really tight for me. Thanks!

Mine is leaking where the right angle comes out of the threaded cap.Not where your arrow is.Tightening it did not help.

Have not fixed mine yet.

I have had that same leak on several rigs. You will have to drain and then dis-assemble both fittings. I was able to use pipe sealant on the pipe connection to the tank, then inspect the 90 degree fitting for a bad cone washer or whatever it needs.

It may just need tightening a little but the tank union was what fixed both of mine.
