Water issues

Just took delivery of a used 2014 351RLTS.

Was told by previous owner that the Dealer had winterized the unit and that he had not used trailer since that time. I hooked up the hose to fill the system after much confusion with the water closet diagrams and levers. Boy what genius designed that? I immediately heard water running out on to the ground. Come to find out that the water filter housing had blown the bottom right out of the cartridge housing. So much for christening the new throne ;-)

I removed the housing and found no evidence of antifreeze or water. That worries me so I have a few questions that I hope some Veteran members might help with.

The "City, Country ect setting are confusing as heck. I'm in a camp ground and don't have a pressure regulator just yet.

Is it possible that I blew the housing apart from excess pressure? Maybe by having a lever in the wrong position?

I can't seem to locate a replacement Wesco 4200WW14 housing online. Can I use any 10" housing or are these special?

Are there any online videos that walk a dummy like me thru the steps of operation? I could sure use one.

THIS SUCKS.

I can't answer the replacement parts question, but it sounds like either there was damage done to components from water freezing and breaking things over the winter, or the water pressure was too high, or both. If it was water pressure related, it's kind of good that it burst where it did, in that you know there's a leak, you know where the leak is, and you can fix the leak. Better that than a buried connection in the floor or cabinets spewing water for days...

I doubt the lack of a water pressure regulator resulted in the failure of your water system. It might have pushed a cracked fitting to the brink, but was not the root of the cause IMHO. That being said you can get one in WM for the short term.

You can just get a water filter housing in a Big box store or bypass for now and use a Camco disposable one for the short term.

There is a whole mess of connections behind the control panel and many of us have had an elbow failure as a result of either poor or insufficient winterizing.

There are only about 5 screws holding the basement board back from good access to this area.

Another place to check is that all the low point drains are pushed fully home.

Hope it all turns around for you.

I did find the leak. The bottom of the filter housing blown off. I think it was from water left in the filter. The housing is so close to the pump. I struggled getting it unscrewed and out. It's tight quarters in that space and I was working after dark so didn't really get a good look at things. Going back to the campground today armed with the proper tools and such.
