Wax ?

on my Jayco 'C', I used Mothers cleaner/wax. sides and front look good after a year in the AZ sun. however, the back [which sets in the sun all day long] looks awful. chalky and has run down over the decals. someone said U cant use car wax on fiberglass. true or no? boat wax is way pricey! thoughts
thanks Rod in AZ

Is some of the chalking coming from the roof?

Two issues here.

One is that there are numerous threads here about wax. Try the search feature at the top of the page but Rejex comes out as the winner in most cases. You can use any wax you want but some are MUCH better than others and Rejex is up there at the top.

If it is chalked out there is no cure at this point short of a total refinish and some RV places do that but it will come back.

Sorry for the bad news but if you leave it in the sun here it will be trashed in a couple of years. RV finishes are junk.

The second is that covered parking is about the only solution that is going to help here. On top of that Arizona sun will chalk about every RV finish there is over time. I see many that are so bad I would be embarrassed to own the rig myself. It is the nature of the beast.

We just got done using Meguiar's One Step. Very happy with the results. The sun exposed sides are still a bit faded, but the chalk is gone.

This^^

Using a buffer is often necessary when there’s heavy oxidation

X2 on using Meguiar's One Step. Ours had a badly faded front due to years of sun exposure. One Step brought it back to life. Follow up with a good wax. I never got to enjoy for it long though, we decided to sell the trailer shortly after.

There’s another solution — albeit a little more work: An RV cover. I throw it on if we’re not gone in the summer and it really helps protect it from the searing sun. Helps in the winter, too, although the UV damage isn’t as bad.

I’ve lived in Souther Az my entire life. The reality is there is no wax or any product that will protect against or un-do ultra violet sun damage that occurs here. You can apply any product you want as often as you want but Mother Nature is going to win the battle at the end of the day. The only real solution is covered storage and even then some damage still will still occur anywhere the sun hits the trailer even if it’s just for a few hours of the day.

On our previous 2017 Class C, I waxed and waxed and waxed and waxed.
Did it plenty of times myself. Used several different products praised on RV forums, with mixed results. Even with that said, nothing lasted very long.

Finally gave up, and had a couple of detail companies tackle it on an ongoing basis for the last few years. In the Arizona sun it would not last more than a couple of months at best before it was back to a faded, chalky mess again.

We now traded it for a 2023 rig recently with full body paint. Hoping it will prove to be easier to maintain and hold up better in the sun.

Wax will hold up much better on a full body paint job

wax?

our 2019 class c looks great. it is in our driveway uncovered all yr. I use a product called AERO WASH/WAX ALL from AERO COSMETICS. spray and wipe, no polishing needed, no need to wash coach unless it is very dirty or you want to. I am 82 yrs young and love this stuff, very slippery surface.

I have used this also mainly to see how it compared to Rejex. I found it lacking in Arizona and used it this last summer on the Jeep while spending most of the summer in the mountains. Pine sap, and needles left marks on the hood finish that I had to remove with some scrubbing and a coat of Rejex. It gives a great shine for a much shorter time than others I have used.

Our Jayco 2018 has never been waxed. We are full-time and have lived everywhere. We found The Solution by Super Seal, use it every time. Waterless rv/car wash and protectant. Truck and RV look new. You can purchase on Amazon or call them direct and they will ship 888-299-2136.
