Wax

Today I waxed my xp170 it is a 2008 and lost its shine! We did the swap wet look floor was and it took 5 coats. After one can of bartendersfriend and hours of scrubbing it looks better than new. I painted the frame and bottles then the gel coat looked bad. Has anyone ever used as floor was?

My decoder ring is totally messed up. So far he's waxed his floor? Painted the frame and propane tanks, scrubbed the exterior with Bar Keepers Friend, and wants to know if anyone has used floor wax on their trailer as a wax?

I never have, but I see they sell it at Homedepot.

I used Mequires Gel Coat Marine wax. It's good enough for boats and had great reviews. Made my trailer shiny and so slick the black streaks wipe right off!

So did you use the BarKeepers Friend on your entire trailer? Might have scratched up the clearcoat if it's a fiberglass sided unit.

Hi did and when it was washed and dry it looked good. The decals look new now! I did some wax this year but it was not very good. It took 5 coats. My friend has his motorhome is Florida and every spring he washes it and gives it one coat.. my trailer is small and if I had to strip it that is the price for a test. It seems no one had used floor wax.

Bar Keepers Friend on a painted surface like your beloved camper?

Makes me cringe thinking about it. Sheesh, why not try sand? But hey if it works it works... the person that tries it on my camper should probably be wearing a bullet proof vest though.

Floor wax is for floors. A good automotive wax is what you should use. It's made to handle rain/sun/etc. Floor wax isn't designed for exterior applications.

I've heard of people using it and while it looks good at first it tends to yellow over time and then comes the task of taking it off which is a real SOB.

I will let everyone know how this wax holds up. Next month we will be going to California and back to Pennsylvania. Then the winter months sitting in the back yard. One thing I like is the look. It looks like new. The prep was hard but it will pay off. See wet look floor wax was easy to apply.
