Wedgewood vision oven door

Did an extensive search, here, for an answer to this problem, but couldn't find anything. Perhaps someone knows how to solve my problems. So here goes:

I have had an issue with my oven door not closing tightly along the right edge, allowing quite a bit of heat to escape. Yesterday, I started jiggling and pulling on the oven door and the left hinge pulled out of the oven facing. It was getting late, so I turned the oven off, made a dinner that didn't need to be baked in the oven, and left the door hanging precariously from the right hinge. This morning, I decided I didn't want to bend the right hinge, so I jiggled and pulled on the door some more, and the right hinge came out of the oven facing. (I suppose the door is removeable for easy replacement.) Now I can't get the darned thing back on the oven. The hinges are spring-loaded with a very stiff spring and no "catch-point" that holds them open. The top edge of each hinge has a couple of "notches" that dig into my fingers when I try to hold the hinge open by hand. And, since I only have two hands, I can't hold even one hinge open (with a pliers or screw driver) while I lift the door and try to put the hinge back into the hinge hole in the oven facing.

I scoured the Wedgewood Owners Manual for a solution, but it doesn't even mention the oven door . . . let alone removing/replacing it. I tried taking the hinges out of the door to reinsert them into the oven facing, then reattaching them to the door. That doesn't work, either. I can't get the hinges out of the door!

Does anyone know the secret to getting the door back on the oven?

Issue #2:

The oven pilot light is about 3" tall and very yellow (too much air). Even when I turn on the oven burner, the pilot light flame is so tall that it hits the bottom (stationary) shelf and leaves a stalactite-like cone of soot on the underside of the shelf. I've tried cleaning the tip of the orifice with a toothpick and a thin wire, but that hasn't made any difference. The Wedgewood owners manual says the pilot light flame is set at the factory and is NOT ADJUSTABLE.

Does anyone know how to remedy this?

Thanks, in advance, for your assistance with either/both issues!

1. it just works like a standard range oven. Just stick the hinges a bit in the slots and pull the door back a little and push each hinge in. One of the hinges must have been not correctly settled, because of the gap.
2. for the pilot light there might be a setting on the valve for the pilot line. They also might have a restriction what is missing.

ALJO

Thanks for the quick reply! The problem with #1 is that the hinge-springs hold the hinges so tightly to the doors that I can't get any of the hinge into the slots in the oven face.

#2: As I mentioned in my 1st post, the Wedgewood Owners Manual says the pilot light is preset at the factory and is not adjustable.

I do appreciate your willingness to help! Perhaps someone else has a solution?

Got it back on

For anyone who needs to reinstall their oven door, I finally figured out how to do it! Thanks to ALJO's post, I managed to wedge a screw driver between the inside of the door and the hinge and pried the hinge open. Then, with the other hand, I lifted the door and slid the end of the hinge into the slot on the oven face. I removed the screw driver and lifted the door to fully insert the hinge. Repeated the procedure for the hinge on the other side. Abracadabra! There's still a slight gap on the right side, but that may be a leveling problem (frame twisting). I'll look into that later today.

Yes!

My door has been off for years now and I came online to buy a new oven and came across this post. Thank YOU! I see now how the hinge is tight. I can get it to open with a screw driver, but I can't figure out how to get it on the oven still... I'll keep messing with it. Thank you for your post!

I see today that I've helped two members with their oven doors since I posted this two years ago! MY GOODNESS! Seemed to be pretty trivial at the time, but glad to see it has helped others. Is this a great forum or what?

Wanted to thank you for the help. It may have seemed trivial at the time, but when you need help nothing is trivial !! Thanks again
