I recently did the "shackle test" in my 9 year old Eagle by jacking the trailer off the ground. There was absolutely no play in the shackles whatsoever on either side. My camper only has about 4K because I only camp locally and I was wondering if this test was an indicator on the health of the shackles and bolts/bushings. Visually everything looks tight. I have the MorRyde CRE 3000 suspension.

Thought I’d close the loop on my thread...I took your wise advice and had the shop put on the beefier shackles, wet bolts etc. Actually, looking at the ones they took off, they were in pretty good shape, although the plastic bushings were a little flattened. Nevertheless, it’s good piece of mind. Tech said any good type/brand of grease for the wet bolts was fine, and to do them once a year? What say you? I was thinking they can hit them when they pack the bearings each year. Or I can get a grease gun and do myself.

As a side note, they inspected the roof and all caulking and said it all looks great. I guess the trailer cover is worth it.

Cre 3000

One of the first upgrades I did to our trailer. I installed the MORryde CRE3000 my trailer. You will not regret it. I have help out too many friends stranded on the side of the road due to cheap shackles/plastic bushings. I paid about $325 to install them. Located in South Texas.

I was told once a year was sufficient on the wet bolts. That's a perfect time to grease them when the bearings are serviced.
