I purchased our 2016 Jayco x254 new in February of 2018. It has had a slow drain to the tub since ownership. While dewinterizing it this week, the drain did not disappoint me with how slow it was emptying again. I took a plunger to it and started to see a soft rubber piece at the drain appear. I initially pulled out pieces with needlenose pliers through the drain. I finally got fed up getting only pieces and detached the P-trap below and pulled the item pictured below out.
First of all, it's really not a P-trap but more of an L shaped trap so I have an idea what I think this is and maybe I should have left it alone. It appears to be a soft piece of rubber I believe designed for one-way flow so as to prevent gases from the gray tank from backing up through the tub drain. It looks as though it may collapse once water is finished draining through it to seal off any backflow coming up through the tub drain.
The tub does drain much quicker so I'm not sure if there's any harm until I try the trailer out this weekend to see if any odors from the gray tank start to fill the bathroom.
Any other thoughts or suggestions?
