I cannot find any information on this on the local (Corpus) news sites (KIII, KRIS) nor on the Kleburg Co Sheriffs website. I wonder if the couple were actually missing or have been located since.

They have not been located as yet.

DW is a member of the Facebook group "210 RVers" here in the San Antonio area. The missing couple are related to one of that group's moderators (and members of the group). As of this morning, they have not been located. Or at least the FB group was not apprised of them being found.

This is a pretty strange and scary situation for us because we camp down in that area ALL THE TIME. Both of their cell phones are presumed discharged, and when they try to ping the GPS in their truck (GM Onstar) it comes back "out of area", or "out of range" or something like that.

I’ve been following this story on Facebook and the Corpus news stations. A body was found near the area where they were last seen (news article). A Facebook posting said the truck and TT were captured on video entering Mexico with an unknown individual driving. Hope none of this is true but it’s been over a week and the couple hasn’t been found.

This is so sad and scary. I hope the best on this one. Authorities are currently not linking the body found to the disappearance.

I saw the update this morning about the footage of the rig crossing the Southern border with someone else driving it. Also, it appears the passports used for that crossing were forged? Or otherwise fraudulent? Don't know the details on that.

IMO this is not looking good. This area is one of the most active drug and human trafficking areas in the country. The people involved in that trade are ruthless and brutal.

I'm hoping for the best, but like I said, not looking good...

We frequently boondock several miles North of there between Corpus and Port Aransas. We've been down the National Seashore MANY miles. It's a bit surprising if something happened to them that close to the pier and Padre Balli. IMO it's much more "shady" the further down PINS you get...

Scary situation indeed...

Edit: I was mistaken on the passports. The news is there have been no hits on their passports.

Update:

https://www.kristv.com/sheriff:-too-...missing-couple

Two bodies found in the area where the missing couple's phone last pinged. Officials say it's too early to determine if these are related to this case. They said the remains were "badly decomposed".

Seems like even down on the coast in the dunes, the bodies wouldn't appear "badly decomposed" after such a short time, but it's the coast, so who knows...

Just came here to post the update. Super sad and SUPER scary. My guess is they never find the killers as they’re probably cartel members, drug runners, or human traffickers.

I just made a firm commitment not to camp in the area unarmed ever again. Not that I ever did before...

Stay safe out there y’all. Update family frequently when you’re out. Watch out for your neighbors. Stay vigilant. And if you see something, say something.

I can tell you, this will shake the area’s RV community to its core. I know it has shaken me...

It affirms that little voice we’ve all had when boon docking, parking lot camping, or traveling on an adventure to be vigilant. I don’t ignore “bumps” in the night nor trust strangers. Trust is earned over time not given out with reckless abandon. I’ve often times wondered if it made me a jerk, reading this I don’t care if it does. I’m never unarmed and won’t be guilted or goaded not to be. Man I feel for their family, how freaking terrible. Puts a stain on the lifestyle we love.

Very tragic indeed. Seems like no place is safe anymore. I've been gone all day and I guess Nortys thread on the subject got axed and I was probably the one responsible. Many apologies too everyone.

I think what bothers me the most is that typically this area of the coast is not a "desolate" place. There are typically lots of people around. That pier is very popular with fishermen. I've driven right by there dozens of times, and every time, there is traffic in the area.

Sure, further down the National Seashore, it gets pretty lonely, but not up there...

DW also wonders if RVers will begin seeing more scrutiny out on the roads because of things like this?

I guess it goes to show you just never know. I was always very comfortable camping right on the beach further up toward Port A. DW says "nope" now... And I can't say I disagree entirely with that sentiment.

Murder of full timers

I read a news blurp over the weekend where the bodies of two New Hampshire residents were found murdered and buried on a beach in Texas. The article also stated that their Camper was seen on video crossing into Mexico. The article was kind of vague. Just passing it on ....BE-SAFE out there!
