YEP, I STRONGLY AGREE!
I climbed up on top of my Trailer and measured to the top of my radio Antenna.
12' 4" so I just use 13' 6" as my limit. People just don't read signs.

[QUOTE=gdiep;538801]Smart thing to do would be to elevate the train bridge, but railroad is not interested in doing that for some reason. QUOTE]
Or to lower the road going under the bridge.. but then that would cost the state $$$ and they would loose the sales tax from all the repairs that accidents there create.

Which in the case of the Onondaga Parkway bridge would make things worse.. Its next to a large lake... Now it floods.. the flooding would be even worse..and accidents happen cause people think they can drive through flooded areas. Why not just take personal responsibility for noticing bridge heights?

Actually if neither lowering the roadbed nor raising the bridge are viable solutions, perhaps doing what many shopping malls and other low parking structures do would make sense. A telltale; tall hoop with hanging "soft" barrier at bridge height far enough in front of the bridge to allow tall vehicles to stop.
Our local mall uses a pipe (not too soft) but I think lighter chains hung vertically would make a hell of a racket when hit and cause little or no damage. Something like that could be installed for a lot less than an insurance settlement when people die.

You cannot protect everyone from everything. At some point the responsibility falls to each of us to be aware, responsible, and competent. Remedies to this bridge have been provided. Drivers have ignored them.

I have never seen a bridge that did not have the height posted near it. Train yourself to look at every overpass you drive under to see the height and know the actual height of your rig.
That's what I did after I clipped on in Mass. years ago. It was well marked and I thought I had a few inches clearance.........Not!
