12V Solenoid will not disconnect

Just returned from a 2 week camping trip. went to disconnect the 12V power to the unit with the shutoff switch located right inside the door. The red light on the switch was on. Pushed the switch but nothing happened. Has any one had this problem? I think the solenoid is located behind the battery??? Thanks Jon

I had smiliar problem and found I had to hold down on switch for a moments. I thought it must be some kind of digital type circuit and now holding down on it will cause the light to go out. Strange.

From my Greyhawk manual:

The battery disconnect feature should be used to disconnect the motor home from house battery power during periods of storage or during maintenance. The solenoid must be engaged for the 12-volt house electrical system to operate.

Never depress the momentary battery disconnect switch for longer than 1 second. Depressing and holding the switch down will disable the battery
disconnect solenoid.
Should this occur the main ground cable for the house batteries must be removed for 1 minute to re-enable the solenoid operation.

Why not remove the wires on the solenoid and test it, at least you start eliminating a problem. It might be a wire on the wrong side of the solenoid. Look at a schematic.

Thanks for the feedback. I contacted Jayco and they sent me 26 drawings all pretty much the same with minor revisions dating to 1997. Will take the solenoid out today and test it. Jon
