What is your budget? That is a big decision maker.

We just put a deposit down on an Aluma 7816R to haul our Subaru Outback:

https://www.alumaklm.com/7800-tandem...trailer-models

Ours will be a 16-footer, but you might not need that much length. Some friends of ours use the same trailer to haul their Outback and gave it high marks.

With tax, we're paying about $5700 for the trailer new. The trailer itself weighs 1150 lbs and can carry an additional 5850. In general, you're going to get 3500 lbs of capacity for each axle (ours has two, obviously), but the weight of the trailer itself counts against that capacity. So you'll want two axles.

I helped a friend load his 4-runner on his... I was so impressed with the quality and the design. Someday... when we downsize from our current trailer, that will be what we tow (does not matter what we have for a Toad, it will be ready for the task).

Car trailers can be pricey, the nissan is a modest sized car. A landscape trailer may be something of interest, usually they have a full width ramp gate that's fairly stout and the 'rails' are built in so don't rattle, makes good front end protection. They have the same ratings as a car trailer but often cost a bit less as they're more work than show trailers. With the rails, you're typically 7' on the inside, worth checking to see how well the door opens with a width restriction. I hauled a Nissan 240 on a 6-3" wide landscape trailer cross country, it was a bit of a squeeze in and out but it handled itself just fine! 2400 pound car with another 1500 pounds of misc cargo.

Don't forget about Featherlite if you are in the market for an aluminum trailer. They make darn nice units.
