2005 Greyhawk 31SS inverter

Greetings all,
Newbie to the RV world. I am trying to run the TV and entertainment center while going down the road, I made some changes to the outlet plug so that it has power when the engine is running, but i can only get the TV to work if the generator is running, is there some way to have this run via the inverter/converter? I found the what i think is the inverter on the side of the bed; IOTA is the brand name. I checked all of the fuses but no 110 outlets work unless the generator is running or plugged in. Trying to keep the grand kids entertained while going down the road.
Thanks

Hi Chapman. Welcome to the forum!

Just to make sure we are on the same page:
Converter: AC -> DC
Inverter: DC -> AC

I have a 31SS. Are you sure you have an inverter, as mine does not.

IOTA is the converter. My guess is that Xantrex would be the inverter, if installed.

I run my generator all the time when traveling so the kids can watch TV and play video games. Unless you have 2 batteries installed when running the inverter, at best I'm guessing only and hour or 2 of power. Your best bet is to run the generator. That's what it's there for.

If you have an Inverter the on/off switch would be in the power panel, also marked Xantrex.

Thanks all for the replies, that makes sense now, I must not have an Inverter. How much does running the generator change your fuel mileage? I think i got about 7.2 MPG on the last trip without running the generator.

Running our generator has no real appreciable difference on mileage. It does depend on the load, tho. Pure guess - you might go from 7.2 to 7.15...
