2008 35gs Seneca Awning close issue

Have a New to me Jayco 35 GS HD 2008

First time I’ve used the awning I know when I purchased it it was open and we were able to retract it successfully

However, today after opening it completely, upon trying to retract it would stop about 4 inches from the top of the rig and go no further.

Would appreciate guidance as to what to do as we are leaving RV site tomorrow .

Thx

Mike

Are the arms binding in any way? There have been times with ours that they just needed a little extra help 'at the end', done by pushing on the arms.
Or the fabric might need to be adjusted to get the entire assembly squared up.
It wouldn't hurt if not already done to use some dry silicone on the small wheels and tracks on the wall side.

A last resort may be to replace the shocks although our originals still seem to be doing their job. There may also be a spring in the tube that has broken and needs to be replaced.

Not sure on all of the above.
Will check in AM.

The tricky part is I’m on the road
And can’t drive as is.

We have emailed you the Carefree Eclipse Awning service manual. It is too big to post here.

Big help,

I have not fixed it yet but this helped me realize it has to go under the alumaguard.
Rookie mistake, I thought that was part of the rolling material/mechanism. Like it was the last part and this the outer shell.

Was able to see better this morning with the manual descriptions.

Will attack it later, just might need some persuasion to go under, not over.

Ty very much,

Mike

Figured it out.
Somehow I managed to roll bottom first, ie clockwise
Which led to being above the alumaguard and thus asking the alumaguard to roll in a way it was not possible.

Thinking I just needed to fully extend and refill counter clockwise, I opened until it stopped. I then hit retract and the spooling went clockwiseandthus the wrong way.

I then hit extra again but held it until it fully extracted then rolledcounter clockwise.

So long story short. Rolled up fine and we were able to hit the road.

Thx for the help!!!

Thanks for posting follow up. Glad it was a simple fix. I have had similar issue when I ask someone to roll it up. They roll it the wrong way and it rolls all the leaves and water into the bundle. I have to learn to be more specific when I ask for help or do it my self.

Safe travels.
