Is it normal for the bedroom outlet to be installed on the mattress side of the nightstand with the drawer or should it be on the front where the drawer for the nightstand is. It just does not make sense to me to have the mattress up against any cords that may be plugged in. Just wondering of that is the normal layout or if someone read the blueprints wrong.
That is exactly where it is on mine. Did not make a lot of sense to me either, especially since there is no outlet on the other side of the bed, so I will need to run an extension cord under the mattress so that my wife will have some juice.
I was thinking about moving it to under the drawer in the front of the night stand and put a plate over the old hole. I plan on taking a look at it to see what would be invovled and if there would be enough room to even do that this weekend.
It's the same on our 2011. When we need in, we run an extension under the mattress.

Well I ended up moving it. It wasn't that difficult, there is plenty of wire. The wire was run up above the drawer so it was easy to run it under it. The hardest part was cutting the hole. My sawsall did the job but it wasnt pretty. Just glad that the outlet cover is able to cover up the imprefections in the hole. I would have used a router but I would not have been able to get it in the bottom part. The cover for the old spot I had at the house already so I didnt need to go get another one.
Glad it helped. Main reason I moved it is I needed to plug in the air pump for the Sleep Number matress we bought to replace the existing matress. Since that is the only bedroom outlet it just had to move.
