2015 Seneca - Stiff Gas Pedal

Hi all, we're in the process of purchasing a 2015 Seneca 37TS. It has 30k miles on it. During the test drive, I noticed the gas pedal was really stiff. Acceleration seemed fine (but I didn't floor it...), and the pedal moved smooth with good feedback... it just took more force than I'm used to.

On the drive home from the dealership, the 6.4 F350 Diesel felt like a sports car!

Is this normal, or do we need to make this a punch list item?

Thanks!

My Seneca's throttle pedal also takes more force to operate than either of my cars, but I never thought it was excessive. Having driven lots of different fire trucks over the years the Seneca's throttle is actually easier than many of those trucks.

Our throttle is only an electronic potentiometer, there is no linkage or cable. But it does have a return spring and that is the "resistance" one feels in the pedal.

Any chance you can try another Seneca if you are working through a dealer?

This is a used unit, and not at a full Seneca dealer, the only other super-C they had was an '08 Gulf Stream SuperNova, which we didn't test drive.

There are some around at a different dealer, but if a "firm" pedal is normal for these big Chassis, I won't worry about it. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

One way perhaps you can determine if the rig you are considering is "normal" would be to visit the other dealer and hopefully they will let you sit in another Seneca. The throttle pedal works the same whether the engine is on or off, so just test one out with the engine off. Perhaps worth a shot!
