2016 Greyhawk 29MV battery charging

When my 2016 Greyhawk 29MV is plugged into shorepower, is the convertor charging both the house and chassis batteries or only the house battery?

The converter charges the house battery only. I recommend a Battery Tender Junior and getting an adapter to plug into a charging port on the dash.

It takes a month or less for the chassis battery to go dead without some kind of maintenance charger on it.

Thanks. Looks like I better take it for a drive every few weeks.

Really? Ours is stored where there is no electrical hookup. What do you suggest we do? Do we really need to take it for a drive every two weeks or . . . ? If we need to drive it, how long do we need to run the engine in order to charge the battery.

Just to be clear - the chassis battery is the one under the hood, right?

In lieu of driving it occasionally, the other option would be to disconnect the batteries. There's parasitic draw on both the house and chassis batteries. Chassis battery draws are the transmission, ECU, and possibly the radio. House battery parasitic draws are the propane monitor and possibly also the radio depending how your rig is configured. The battery disconnect switch for the house battery won't disconnect the propane alarm.

Yeah, it's a pain but steps need to be taken to keep from killing those batteries if you can't be plugged in 24/7.

And don't forget you're running out there every month - at a minimum - to exercise the generator! If you can, might as well take it for a spin.

We have installed a Trik-L-Start on all our motorhomes over the years and never had to worry about the chassis battery.
