2017 Greyhawk 31FS Brake issue solved
I've put about 6000 miles on our 31FS since May. Since day one, I've felt like the brake pedal was spongy. I'm in the auto service business and earn a living driving other peoples vehicles while looking for potential problems so I feel like I'm a pretty good judge of how things should feel and operate. The coach never felt like it wouldn't stop, or that the brakes were faulty, just that the pedal traveled further and required more pressure than it should. I got to thinking that when Jayco builds these they cut and lengthen the chassis which means the brake and fuel lines need to be lengthened as well, I wonder if there is air in the brake lines that didn't get bleed out? So this week, I was scheduled to take it into the Ford dealer to have the crank shaft bolt recall performed and as I was checking it in with the service writer I asked him if they could bleed the brakes and I explained what I was feeling. (its 19 deg in Cincinnati right now, I don't feel like rolling around on the ground trying to bleed them myself). He said no problem. Fast forward to today when I picked the coach up. WOW what a difference! I've got twice the braking power I had before! Must have been quittin' time or a Monday morning when they bleed those brakes at the Jayco factory. I highly recommend looking into this, you may not even know you have a problem.
